Artwork description

In Shadow of King, fragmented planes of rose, violet, and umber converge to form an imposing yet fractured presence. The figure at the center is not wholly revealed but hinted at through overlapping shapes, reflections, and distortions, suggesting both power and fragility. The composition feels architectural, as if a monument is dissolving into abstraction.

Within these shifting surfaces, smaller human forms emerge—echoes caught in the folds of color, like memories or subjects bound to the weight of authority. Light and shadow alternate sharply, carving depth into the otherwise unstable geometry. The king exists here not as a singular figure but as a layered impression, part human, part symbol, part illusion.

The painting reflects on leadership as both a presence and an absence, a form built of fragments rather than solid ground. It captures the idea that sovereignty, while commanding, is also a construct—its image projected, its shadow lingering longer than the figure itself.
