Artwork description

Restriction of Concept captures a striking tension between liberation and confinement through abstract and surreal forms. On the right, a figure dressed in white raises both arms skyward, as if in a gesture of surrender, exaltation, or yearning for release. The upward motion of the body contrasts sharply with the chaotic swirls and fragmented shapes that dominate the left side of the canvas.

The abstract formations appear as compressed, layered waves of color—yellows, reds, and browns—folding into one another like barriers or distortions. These dense, almost suffocating textures seem to press inward, restricting space and overwhelming the central figure’s attempt to rise above. The painting’s title echoes this struggle, suggesting the limitations imposed by rigid thought, social structures, or even the mind itself.

The deep black background heightens the drama, creating a void against which both the figure and the abstractions stand out more vividly. Restriction of Concept becomes a visual metaphor for the struggle between inner freedom and external constraints, leaving the viewer caught in its dynamic tension.
