Behind the Café Window captures the blurred boundaries between intimacy and distance, presence and reflection. On the left, a man’s figure fades into abstraction beside a table set with wine and food, while on the right, a woman in blue stands holding a glass, her face calm yet partially obscured. Between them, dark vertical forms divide the canvas, evoking both architectural structures and symbolic barriers.
The scene unfolds as though glimpsed through glass—fragmented, refracted, and layered with reflections. Bright reds, blues, and luminous highlights punctuate the composition, creating a rhythm of interruption and disjunction. The figures appear both connected and estranged, suspended in a moment of quiet tension.
